On June 17th, UCW members got together via zoom for a second Lunchtime Speaker event. This time the speaker was Arizona Regent Fred DuVal, and he taught attendees about what the Arizona Board of Regents does for the state and state universities, going into details like who sits on the Board, what their ongoing mission is and why, and many other interesting points. He also took questions from the audience, which spanned topics like what the impacts of COVID-19 might mean for staff at Arizona universities, to what metrics the Board of Regents uses to decide how to increase tuition. Regent DuVal was an engaging and informative speaker, and we are delighted he was able to share some time and knowledge with our members.
If you want to listen in on a Board of Regents meeting and hear about topics and decisions that may affect ASU, think about joining a Board of Regents meeting remotely! They stream their public meetings live so everyone and anyone is welcome to hear about the important things they’re working on. Go the their website https://www.azregents.edu/ and click ABOR Live to watch and learn more!
UCW’s next zoom Lunchtime Speaker event will be Wednesday, August 5th from 12:00 – 1 pm. The guest speaker for that date will be Tempe Police Chief Sylvia Moir.
